Reset your skin.

You forgot to reapply your sunscreen on that tropical getaway and ended up with a nasty sunburn or perhaps you spent your teenage years lounging on the beach. Now you’re left with sun spots or hyperpigmentation. While sun damage can certainly leave its mark in the form of lentigines (a fancy word for dark spots) and uneven skin, you don’t have to live with the consequences forever. Now you can start fresh.

Unlike creams and serums that rely on chemicals and require dedicated daily use, or makeup that only stays put for a few hours, laser treatment will provide long-lasting, dramatic results naturally. IPL (intense pulsed light) therapy removes dark spots, freckles, brown age spots and sun damage in a quick, non-invasive way with no downtime. Not only that, laser treatment will improve your overall skin tone and restore that youthful, vibrant glow since it kicks collagen production into high gear.

How does it work its magic? We infuse the skin with light energy which heats the dark spots. The more superficial melanin close to the surface might even flake off but the majority of the pigments will break apart and be flushed away by the lymphatic system. Over the course of the next few weeks, they’ll continue to fade and new, healthy skin cells will replace the old, damaged ones.

It doesn’t take very many sessions for most people to achieve their desired results and each treatment is only 30 minutes, meaning you can pop in for your appointment during your lunch break and go about your day after. Save yourself time, money and the hassle of topical products and fast track the process. Don’t mask those dark spots. Get rid of them!

FAQ

How are the dark spots on the skin formed?

A: Let’s get technical for a second. Specialized cells called melanocytes produce melanin, which is meant to protect the skin from sun damage. This is why the skin tans. As you age, exposure to the sun, hormonal changes and medications can cause these melanocytes to group together causing dark spots that eventually rise to the surface of the skin.

What areas can be treated with laser for dark spots?

A: Laser treatment is ideal for brown dark spots on any part of your face, neck and décolleté. Even light (low contrast) dark spots, which were previously difficult to resolve, respond well to laser treatment.

How long will laser treatment for dark spots take?

A: Most treatments take less than 30 minutes. However, session length depends on the area of the body being treated.

Will the dark spots reappear over time?

A: Unfortunately, laser dark spot removal doesn’t create a sun damage force field. You’ll still have to care for your skin. New dark spots may appear with new sun damage. The answer? Always apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen (minimum SPF 30) on a daily basis to prevent spots from reappearing.

How does laser for dark spots work?

A: The laser delivers a pulse of light that travels through the skin and causes the cluster of pigmentation to break apart. Some of the superficial pigmentation will surface and slough off, while the deeper pigmentation will dissolve through the circulatory system. It’s actually the heating of the dark spots that causes the therapeutic effect.

What do laser treatments for dark spots feel like?

A: When the pulse of light is delivered, patients may experience a slight heat or pinching sensation. Have no fear! It’s mild. Anesthesia or pain medicine is not required.

How many laser treatments for dark spots will I need?

A: Most patients opt for between one and three treatments. Additional treatments may be recommended for high contrast dark spots, especially for excessively sun-damaged skin. Touch-up treatments could be necessary.

What will happen to my skin after a laser treatment for dark spots?

A: It will be stunning! Well, first there’s a healing process. Immediately following treatment, brown spots will start to darken and your skin may appear slightly flushed. The flushed appearance will disappear within one hour.

The high contrast dark spots may change into a gray shade. This will subside after three days. Don’t worry though, you can apply makeup to cover them up for the duration. Exfoliation will help the shedding process move along faster. We provide homecare so you can achieve that stellar, even complexion.
