The good news is that a solution is out there and your skin care experts at NuAGE Laser & Skin Care are always at the forefront of the latest advances. We specialize in customized, comprehensive treatment plans dedicated to your individual needs.
Erase the Past From Your Skin!
Microneedling is a minimally invasive medical aesthetic treatment where tiny, sterile needles superficially pierce the epidermis creating thousands of micro-channels. This results in a breakdown of old, hardened tissue and kicks your body’s natural healing response into overdrive. Microneedling causes an accelerated production of fibroblasts, growth factors, collagen and elastin — in other words, a whole lotta goodness!
Derived from ancient acupuncture and mesotherapy techniques, microneedling is quickly becoming the treatment of choice for many skin conditions and concerns. It offers an array of benefits including restoring the skin’s resiliency, reducing pore size, diminishing fine lines and wrinkles, eliminating acne and acne scars, tightening and rejuvenating the tone of skin, fading stretch marks, getting rid of sun damage and hyperpigmentation and reducing vascular redness, such as telangiectasia/couperose and rosacea.
Here at NuAGE, we use Dermapen 3MD™, the most advanced method of microneedling. It’s faster and more effective than its competitors and allows your NuAGE skin expert to customize the depth of penetration throughout treatment. Dermapen is the gold standard of microneedling technology.

FAQ
What is microneedling?
A: Microneedling, sometimes referred to as skin needling or Collagen Induction Therapy (CIT), is a minimally invasive treatment that breaks down scar tissue, strengthens the skin, naturally stimulates collagen and improves the overall texture and tone of the skin.
How does Dermapen differ from other microneedling devices?
A: Dermapen is the leading microneedling device currently on the market and the gold standard of microneedling technology. Because the needles oscillate so quickly, the tip of the Dermapen easily glides across the skin without catching or causing any dermal tearing, unlike other devices on the market. Furthermore, Dermapen has products that work alongside the treatments you receive here at NuAGE that allow for optimal results with fewer sessions as compared to the competitors.
Are there other benefits of microneedling?
A: In addition to treating a variety of conditions, microneedling also improves the efficacy and penetration of topical products, stimulates circulation and collagen production, and, unlike many other resurfacing procedures, microneedling works on all skin types and can be performed anywhere on the body, including the delicate undereye area.
It has significantly less downtime than ablative lasers, such as Fraxel Laser, CO2 and Erbium (or YAG) lasers. Not to mention, there’s way less pain and discomfort as compared to the aforementioned lasers putting microneedling at the forefront of corrective treatment options for the skin and body.
Is microneedling painful? What can I expect during my treatment?
A: We use a topical anesthetic cream on the area being treated, so you’ll be extremely comfortable throughout the procedure. Some clients describe the feeling as being similar to microdermabrasion with a bit more kick to it.
When you come in for your microneedling treatment, we’ll start with an ultra-relaxing facial cleanse that will calm any nerves you may have. Next, we’ll apply a generous amount of numbing cream to every inch of skin being treated. Once it works its magic and you’re nice and numb, we’ll begin the treatment and do three passes with the Dermapen device. After completing the microneedling portion, we’ll customize the products used based on your skin’s individual needs.
How many treatments will I need? How often is treatment done?
A: The number of treatments varies based on the condition being addressed. Most patients with acne scarring or general scarring get six to 10 treatments, while those looking for facial rejuvenation usually opt for four to six treatments. The frequency of sessions can also vary but we generally space them about four to six weeks apart.
How does microneedling work?
A: Microneedling delivers thousands of tiny punctures (also known as micro-injuries, micro-channels or micro-punctures) per second, which stimulates your body’s natural healing response. The body responds to these controlled wounds by producing collagen and elastin, which rejuvenates the skin and resurfaces scars, stretch marks and wrinkles.
What conditions can be treated or improved with microneedling?
A: Conditions that can be treated with microneedling include:
- Acne and acne scars
- Fine lines and wrinkles
- Trauma and surgical scars
- Sun damage or hyperpigmentation (Ideal for Skin Types 4+)
- Melasma
- Sagging or lax skin
- Enlarged pores
- Vascular redness
- Stretch marks and more!
Is there any downtime after microneedling?
A: Usually, there is little to no downtime associated with this treatment. Some people will notice redness and mild swelling, similar to a slight sunburn, for 24-48 hours after a session. Pinpoint bleeding and/or bruising may occur. Skin will be noticeably smoother and more radiant within one to two weeks, depending on the intensity of your treatment. Full results may take up to one month (or one cell turnover period) to become apparent.
You may apply makeup a few hours post treatment (we don’t recommend any sooner than two hours after your session!).
